Guide to Giving to the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy
As our organization works to fulfill its mission of restoring, conserving and preserving fish, habitat and wildlife around Michigan, below are tangible ways for you to help us meet our goals:
1. Cash Gifts, Memberships
Our members are the lifeblood of the organization! Donors and friends of the Conservancy are encouraged to make yearly, annual membership gifts to the organization. Members are privy to special event invitations, a membership card, window sticker, and six issues of the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy newsletter. You can become a member with a tax-deductible gift of $40 or more the MWC.
2. Pledges
The Michigan Wildlife Conservancy welcomes donor contributions of any amount via a five-year pledge period. For example, the donor can choose to make a $5,000 contribution over five years, paying $1,000 per year on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis. Pledges can be allocated to specific habitat needs, per the donor's interests.
3. Gifts of Will or Trust
Donors may wish to support the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy via a portion of their estate. Planned gifts can be documented by signing a one-page statement of support form indicating the percentage of the donor's estate and an estimate of the dollars to be donated, along with a copy of the will page indicating the desire to make a gift to the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy. Gifts will be counted toward donor's cumulative totals and donor society memberships. If you have already remembered the MWC in your will, please let us know so that we can thank and recognize you accordingly!
4. Stock Gifts
Donors wishing to support the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy through gifts of appreciated stock are encouraged to submit a written letter of intent to the Conservancy outlining the number of shares, company and approximate gift value. The donor will then receive a final letter from MWC outlining the final sales price and donor gift credit for tax purposes.
5. Real Estate Gifts
You or your family may own a piece of property that is no doubt very special to you. Property donated to the MWC can be protected forever by a land stewardship program designed by the organization specifically to meet your needs. Real Estate Gifts are a decisive way to make sure your natural places are taken care of forever.
6. Community Foundation Endowment Gifts
A new, and most important, way to contribute to the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy is through the establishment of a named endowment through your local community foundation. Donors can establish funds with initial investments ranging from $5,000-$25,000 (depending on your community foundation's endowment guidelines) such funds will exist in perpetuity to benefit the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy. MWC endowed funds will be listed in community foundation and Conservancy written materials and will continue to grow as outside donors and friends of the conservancy make donations!
7. Education Fund
You may also donate to the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy's Education Fund. Donations to the Education Fund will benefit Michigan residents by bringing in speakers and hosting programs about nature and environmental issues.
