MWC Introduces Wild About Wildlife Event!

The Michigan Wildlife Conservancy cordially invites members and friends to join us for a unique, womenÕs-night-out shopping event at the Bengel Wildlife Center on November 17. The Wild About Wildlife event gives shoppers access to special vendors at below-retail prices with a portion of proceeds helping to restore wetlands in Mid-Michigan. Tickets for the event are $20.00 at the door, $15.00 if pre-ordered through the MWC, and food will be provided.

Since 1982 the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy has restored 7,500 acres of wetlands, 2,500 acres of prairie and grassland, and dozens of miles of trout streams. We helped to reintroduce moose to the Upper Peninsula and wild turkeys to Southern Michigan, and our efforts have been well documented in media outlets such as the Detroit Free Press, Grand Rapids Press, Lansing State Journal, New York Times and Associated Press.

In spite of this effort, since settlement, Michigan has lost nearly half of its wetland base resulting in a decidedly negative impact on many plant and animal species. The Michigan Wildlife Conservancy is committed to restoring these wetlands, and can do so for a cost of approximately $250 per acre. Please consider joining us at the Bengel Wildlife Center from 6-9:30 PM on November 17 to get a start on your Christmas shopping and help restore wetland habitats in Mid-Michigan.

For more information on attending the event or participating as a vendor, please contact Beth Elliott at 517.641.7677 or wildlife@miwildlife.org.
