Michigan Wild Hog Removal Program Ideally, volunteers for the Michigan Wild Hog Removal Program should have a hunting and/or trapping background and reliable transportation including access to a pick-up truck or small trailer. Volunteers should also feel comfortable explaining the program to others. Volunteer hog trappers may be asked to help detect wild hogs, possibly install corral-type traps where hogs are found, and shoot any hogs caught. Obviously, volunteers actually involved in the trapping should have the ability and experience to safely handle firearms. Experience in handling (e.g., field dressing) deer or other large animals will also be helpful. Volunteers that have extensive contacts with groups of landowners, sportsmen, or other likely to encounter wild hogs and their signs may be particularly valuable to the Program. Volunteers must be 18 years or older and have a valid drivers license. Volunteers will not be reimbursed for travel and/or incidental expenses associated with their work in the Program.
